Beach Volleyball Topped By Ranked Foes

COLUMBIA, S.C. – UNCW closed out its appearance at the Carolina Challenge losing to nationally-ranked Stetson and South Carolina on Saturday at Wheeler Beach.

The Seahawks slid to 1-4 to open the season.

Against No. 12 Stetson, Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey pushed the Hatters to three sets before falling 15-13.

The Gamecocks, who are ranked 19th in the AVCA poll, won all five matches in straight sets. Ellie Bucci and Lyvia Trimp lost 21-19, 21-17 at the second pairing.

UNCW visits Catawba on Mar. 14 for duals against Erskine and Catawba.
