Beach Volleyball Clipped At Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – UNCW fell to both Tulane and Stephen F. Austin in college beach volleyball action on Friday at the Carolina Challenge.

The Seahawks dipped to 1-2 with the losses.

Tulane, L 5-0
The Green Wave earned the first point of the dual, winning 21-15, 21-17 at the fifth pairing and made it a 2-0 advantage with a three-set win over Haggerty and Folks (19-21, 21-18, 15-12). Tulane, which is receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches poll, clinched the win in the third pairing with a 21-16, 21-17 decision. Grace Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp went the distance in a loss at the second pairing while Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey posted UNCW's lone win, also going three.

Stephen F. Austin, L 3-2
The Ladyjacks and UNCW split the first two matches with Jadyn Barry and Ashley Thompson winning at the fifth pairing. SFA gained a 2-1 lead with a straight-set win in the number pairing but Ellie Bucci and Sarah Thompson event the dual at 2-all with a three-set win at the third pairing. The deciding point went to SFA as Olivia Duhon and Madison Morrow edged Trimp and Sistrunk, 23-21, 19-21, 15-11, at the second pairing.

The Seahawks conclude their tournament appearance on Saturday with a pair of duals against nationally-ranked Stetson (1 p.m.) and South Carolina (3 p.m.)
