Baseball Preview: Hughes Bros. Challenge

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Never one to shun a challenge, UNCW opens the 2023 season this Friday when it hosts Ohio, Navy and nationally-ranked Virginia in the Hughes Bros. Challenge.

Weather has already reared its ugly head with high winds and scattered rain arriving in the Port City on Friday. The schedule will now have UNCW and Ohio play at 5 p.m. at Brooks Field while Navy and Virginia square off at 2 p.m. in Charlottesville.

All four teams will play on Saturday at Brooks Field though. The Seahawks and Bobcats open the day with a 10:30 a.m. start followed by Ohio and Virginia at 2 p.m. UNCW and Navy, meanwhile, will close out the day with a 6 p.m. start.

On Sunday, Ohio and Navy play their final games of the weekend when they meet for an 11 a.m. start. The Seahawks and the 19th-ranked Cavaliers conclude the tournament with a 3 p.m. first pitch.

All UNCW games will be streamed on FloBaseball.tv and live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.
