Allen Tosses Complete Game In 6-1 Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior Cooper Allen tossed UNCW's third complete game in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament in a 6-1 win over third-seeded Monmouth on Friday at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks (30-27) advanced to play second-seeded Northeastern at 8:35 p.m. on Friday.

Allen (8-4) tied his career high with 11 strikeouts while posting his second complete game of the season. He scattered five hits and allowed just a third-inning run.

UNCW jumped on Monmouth starter Branden Kenneally (4-3) for four runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Jake Bechtel's two-out, two-run double highlighted the early outburst.

JP Pennella finished with two hits, including an RBI double in the second inning for the Seahawks.

With 30 wins this season, the Seahawks have now won at least 30 games in 26 seasons since 1999.
