Big Inning Ends UNCW Season In 7-3 Loss

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Northeastern exploded for five runs in the eighth inning to knock off UNCW, 7-3, and advance to the next round of the Coastal Athletic Association tournament on Friday at Brooks Field.

The Huskies, who staved off elimination, pushed their record to 35-20 while the Seahawks ended their season with a 30-28 mark.

In the eighth inning, Harrison Feinberg led off with a homer on a first-pitch offering from UNCW reliever Clay Masonis(0-4), who was saddled with the loss. The Huskies struck four more times to take a 7-3 lead, including two on an RBI single by Carmine Musacchia.

The Seahawks had struck in the sixth when Jake Bechtel's two-run homer gave UNCW a 3-2 lead.

Andrew Rogovic (4-2) was credited with the win.

Northeastern pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts, including 11 by starter Luc Rising.
