Bechtel Named Gold Glove Finalist

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior outfield Jake Bechtel was listed as a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove team on Monday following a spectacular season as the Seahawks' center fielder in 2026.

Bechtel started all 58 games in centerfield for UNCW and committed just one error in 139 total chances. That misplay came in mid-May against Campbell when he dropped the ball while taking it out of his glove to make a throw. It snapped a streak of 123 consecutive chances without an error.

In an elimination game at the Coastal Athletic Association tournament, Bechtel recorded three putouts and notched a pair of assists, one at second base and the other cut down a runner attempting to score.
