Seahawks Fall In Pitcher's Duel To Campbell

WILMINGTON, N.C. – CAA Pitcher of the Year David Russow lifted Campbell to a 3-1 win over UNCW with another strong effort on the mound on Thursday in the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament at Brooks Field.

The Camels upped their record to 40-15 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 29-27. UNCW next faces Monmouth on Friday at 11 a.m. in an elimination game.

Jonah Oster's leadoff homer in the fourth opened the scoring, and the Camels added two more in the fifth inning on RBI singles from Jett Music and Oster again, giving the Camels a 3-0 lead.

Russow (10-1) earned the win, going 7.2 innings. The righthander allowed a run on six hits while striking out seven and walking one.
Braxton Shaffer picked up his third save of the season.

Taking the loss for UNCW was starter Trey Williford (7-2), who surrendered three runs over eight innings. Williford, the CAA Rookie of the Year, fanned eight and walked three.

JP Pennella collected two hits for the Seahawks at the top of the order.

Trevor Lucas plated UNCW's only run of the contest with a sac fly in the eighth.
