Women's Basketball Inks Dobson to NLI

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Head Coach Nicole Woods continues to add to her 2024 recruiting class with the signing guard Tia Dobson to a National Letter of Intent.

Dobson, a crafty 5-7 point guard, will join the Seahawks for the 2024-25 season after graduating from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Fla.

She helped the Buccaneers to a Class 5A Florida State Championship as a junior after averaging 10.2 ppg and 3.6 apg. Dobson also impacted the defensive end for MHS Head Coach Brandon Stewart with 2.3 spg.

"Tia is a true point guard that leads and manages her team," said Woods. "She comes from winning stock, leading Mainland High School to a 5A state championship last season. A relationship built years ago brought her to Wilmington and I couldn't be happier!"

Dobson laced her sneakers on the travel circuit for one of the Top Nike Elite Youth Basketball Teams in Essence.

Dobson is the third signee of UNCW's 2024 class after guard Finley Lohan and center Angelina Pelayo inked NLIs earlier this month.
