Women's Basketball Preview: at Winthrop

Four-game road swing continues on Sunday

ROCK HILL, S.C. – UNCW continues a four-game road stretch on Sunday with a 1 p.m. tip-off at Winthrop.

The Seahawks dropped the opening game of the swing at West Georgia, 83-63, to dip to 3-4 on the young season. Paige Smith delivered 16 points off the bench to lead the Seahawks and was joined in double figures by Angelina Pelayo and Torin Rogers with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Pelayo, who was making her second appearance of the season following an injury, hauled in a career-high eight rebounds, including four on the offensive glass.

Winthrop throttled Johnson & Wales, 105-41, to move to 6-4 on the season. The Eagles carry a 4-0 home record into Sunday's matchup.

The Seahawks hold a 5-3 lead in the series and have won the last four showdowns.
