Cox Leads Four In Double Digits With 16 Points

LONGWOOD, Va. – Rori Cox led four Seahawks in double figures with 16 points, but Longwood beat UNCW, 98-72, on Sunday in women's college basketball action at the Joan Perry Brock Center.

The Seahawks lost their fourth straight to dip to 3-7 while the Lancers captured their third consecutive win to raise their record to 9-4.

Jasmine Peeks' 17 points were a game-high for Longwood, which placed five players in double-digit scoring. Otaifo Esenabhalu fashioned a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Malea Brown matched Esenabhalu with 16 points.

Joining Cox in double digits were Mary Ferrito with a season-high 14 and Torin Rogers and Kylah Silveradding 11 points apiece.

Freshman Icyss Storm grabbed a team-best nine rebounds for UNCW while Cox, who leads the Coastal Athletic Association in steals, recorded five swipes on the afternoon.

The Lancers used a 20-4 run spanning the first and second quarters to establish a 29-12 lead.

The Seahawks next host Columbia International on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. in their non-conference finale.
