Seahawks Wrap Up Brant Tolsma Invitational

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore Nasiah Ferguson registered her second top-10 mark as the Brant Tolsma Invitational drew to a close on Saturday at Liberty's Indoor Track Complex.

The Hendersonville, N.C., product clocked a 58.40 time to lead a trio of Seahawk runners in the 400 Meters. She now owns a top-10 mark in the 200m (Liberty), 300m (UNC), and 400m (Liberty) this season.

The team next competes in the Richard Drake Invitational on Feb. 5, 2023, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, site of the 2023 CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Women's 60M Hurdles
"Today was about getting another quality rep in a major event. We are excited about taking what we've learned back with us to practice and to reinforce what needs to be done during competition moments."

Women's High Jump
"The high jump group as a whole continues to improve their approaches, which sets up everything in the finish in their jumps. Lauryn had some pop today that put everyone on notice."

Women's Mile
"Kendall turned in another strong performance in the mile, running out front for the majority of the race and finishing just off her PR. We're proud of her being decisive and making the moves she needed to make."

Women's 60m
"There were some great reps for the group. Janiyah and Brynn had complete races and just missed the finals. The round format was great to prepare them for a similar setup when we get to the CAA Indoor Championships. Tra'Nijah had one of the best starts of the day and we look forward to her building off that."

Women's 400
"Nasiah ran a top-10 all-time mark in the 400m with her time of 58.40. She won the break and made another great move to set up her all-time best indoors. Miquela, Essie and Mackenzie are all trending in the right direction."

Women's 800m
"Gretchen had one of the best races from the 200m-800m mark that I've seen during her career. Now, we need to take care of the pace early to make sure we keep getting the outcomes we are chasing. Caitlin continues to make strides in the right direction."

Women's 1000m
"Kendall doubled back today to maximize the opportunities to race and Kendall took control of the heat and narrowly missed out on a heat win. Great effort."

Women's 4x400m Relay
"It was a gusty effort for the women's B team 4x400. Riley led off, Essie ran 2nd, Gretchen 3rd and Caitlin ran anchor. It's all about moments and the team was the loudest squad in the building helping the ladies compete every lap of the relay."
