Lines Wins Long Jump For Second Straight Week

WILMINGTON, North Carolina –  Senior Courtney Lines of UNCW picked up her second title in as many appearances when she captured the Women's Long Jump title early Friday on the second day of the Brant Tolsma Invitational at Liberty's Indoor Track Complex.

Lines, from Leland, N.C., posted a mark of 19-03.25 to beat out Campbell's Amanda Ballard at 18-04.25.

Fourteen Seahawks competed on the second day of the three-day event. A full slate of action continues on Saturday, beginning with the High Jump and 60m Hurdles at 11 a.m.

UNCW T&F Head Coach Jeff Klaves On Today's Action:

Women's LJ
"The freshman duo of La'Tecyia Johnson and Tra'Nijah Pettihomme did a great job today.  We improved on our marks from a week ago. They have a better understanding of what they are trying to execute in their jump(s).

"We had Courtney on a rep limit today and just jumped the first three in preliminaries. We're proud of her earning another collegiate victory as we keep building through her season with a long-term vision in mind."

Women's Pole Vault
"Bailey joins the top-10 all-time list with her teammate Elise Hall after her clearance of 3.45m today. Elise current sits #4 all-time with her 3.67m clearance last year at this same facility, Bailey now sits at a tie for the #8 spot. Jena cleared opening height today and we know the new few bars are well within her reach."

Women's 200m
"Nasiah earned the #10 spot on the 200m dash with her 25.60 performance today. Overall, we are pleased with the effort across the board as the group prepares for its first ever CAA indoor conference championship. Janiyah's 200m is a lifetime best indoors, Brynn was just off her all-time best, Kaleigh had a great start and Mackenzie continues her comeback with another great performance."

Women's 3000m
"Ashley ran a lifetime best. She had a goal of running 44s and the first third of the race was faster than that, so we knew it would be tough to hold the pace. She did a great job fighting in the latter parts of the races and earned a lifetime best. Ashley will now double back and win the 1000k tomorrow."
