Swimming & Diving Welcomes Talented Class

WILMINGTON, N.C.- UNCW head swimming and diving coach Bobby Guntoro has announced the additions of 20 swimmers and divers to the roster beginning with the 2022-23 season.

On the women's side, 14 newcomers will dot the roster and look to elevate the Seahawks this season following a second-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships last February. It was their highest finish since 2010 when UNCW took second.

"I am very excited to welcome a very talented incoming class this fall," said Guntoro. "We wanted to fill some roles and add quality depth where needed. I think this group will do that and more. Our goal is to bring student-athletes who already have A final times in their main events."

UNCW welcomes six on the men's roster as the Seahawks look to defend their conference championship. It was the program's first since 2012 and it's 14th overall.

"Diving has historically been a strong program for our program, and we are excited to bring in another talented diver into our program with Ethan Badrian. I think we have a complete 1-2-3-4 punch with Ethan coming to town! On the swimming side, it is a small but mighty class. I look forward to continuing to build our sprint events with this incoming group. One of our weakest areas from last year was our sprint free relays, this class will certainly bring an immediate impact to our relays."

The Seahawks open their season on Sept. 24, when they host Army West Point at 11 a.m. That meet is the first of seven home meets in the fall semester for UNCW.
