Haggerty Becomes Single-Season Wins Leader

Seahawks split two duals on Sunday

CONWAY, S.C. – Brianna Haggerty and Maddy Folks won both of their matches against Mercer and South Carolina on Saturday as Haggerty set a UNCW record with her 19th win of the season at the Carolina Challenge.

The Seahawks finished the weekend with a split of four matches and stand at 19-9 going into the regular season finale on Tuesday. UNCW also moved its record in the ASUN to 9-3 with the win over Mercer.

Against Mercer in the first dual of the day, three of the five matches went five sets with the Seahawks winning at the third and fourth pairings. Haggerty and Folks gave UNCW it's first point of the dual with a three-set victory.

Tessa Rogers and Sadie Sharkey and Kaley McLaughlin and Jadyn Barry posted straight-set wins at the second and fifth pairings.

Against nationally-ranked South Carolina, it was Haggerty and Folks with UNCW's lone win of the dual, coming in straight sets, 21-12 and 21-17. Folks, who owns a 14-3 mark, has fashioned a single-season mark for winning percentage at .824.

At 19-9, the Seahawks continue to set a program record for wins in a season.

The Seahawks visit Salisbury, N.C., on Tuesday for a pair of duals at Catawba against Morehead State and the host, Indians.
