Bucci, Haggerty Move Up Wins List

UNCW splits duals with CofC and Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – Ellie Bucci and Brianna Haggerty moved into a tie for second on UNCW's single-season wins list as the Seahawks split a pair of duals, including a win over rival College of Charleston, on Friday at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Seahawks improved to 18-8 and 8-3 in the ASUN Conference.

Against Charleston, a 4-1 Seahawk win, UNCW won the first three matches to clinch the dual. After seeing the fourth and fifth pairings go to a third set, Bucci and Ashley Thompson clinched the dual with a 21-17, 21-19 win at the third pairing. Haggerty earned her 17th win of the season alongside Maddy Folks in one of the three-setters at the fourth pairing.

Bucci would join Haggerty in second on the single season wins list in the Coastal Dual, a 4-1 loss, with a win at the third pairing.

The single season record for wins is 18, set by Sarah Kelly in 2018.

The Seahawks take on Mercer (8 a.m.) and South Carolina (2 p.m.) on Saturday.
