Beach Volleyball Preview: at Carolina Challenge

CONWAY, S.C. – UNCW faces another stiff test this weekend when it competes in the Carolina Challenge hosted by Coastal Carolina beginning on Friday with duals against the College of Charleston and host Chanticleers.

For the Seahawks, this weekend's tournament will be the final tune up for the ASUN Championship Tournament later this month, Apr. 22-25, in Huntsville, Ala.

UNCW and CofC have split a pair of duals this season, each winning in their own tournament. The Seahawks and Chants haven't met this season but have an 8-4 lead in the all-time series dating back to 2016.

The Seahawks went 1-3 last weekend in Columbia, S.C., topping Jacksonville while falling to UAB, Stetson and South Carolina.

UNCW carries a program-best 17-7 mark into the weekend and several records have the potential to fall. The pairing of Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers is 15-8 and tied for the program record for wins by a pairing held by Maddy Kline and Nicole Lott (2018) and Sydney Alvis and Sarah Kelly (2017). Individually, Briana Haggerty owns a 16-8 mark and needs two more wins to match Sarah Kelly's record of 18 set in 2018.

The Seahawks will cap their tournament appearance with duals against Mercer and nationally-ranked South Carolina on Saturday.
