Beach Volleyball Falls In ASUN Semifinals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UNCW's impressive run at the ASUN Championship tournament came to an end on Tuesday with a 3-0 loss to Florida Gulf Coast in the semifinals at the John Hunt Sports Complex.

Top-seeded Stetson claimed its sixth ASUN tournament championship with a 3-0 win over FGCU in the finals on Monday.

FGCU claimed straight set wins at the second and fifth pairings and won in three sets at the fourth pairing. UNCW's Brianna Haggerty and Maddy Folks dropped the set at the fourth pairing but forced a third set with a 21-18 win. The Eagles, however, edged the Seahawks, 15-13, in that pairing for a 2-0 lead.

The dual was clinched at the second pairing and the first and third pairings were not finished.

The Seahawks wrapped up their inaugural season as a member of the conference with a program-record 25 wins and finished 25-11.

Ellie Bucci and Ashley Thompson were named to the All-Tournament team.

The 16-team NCAA tournament field will be announced on Apr. 30 at 9 p.m.
