Sandy Hawks Sweep Eckerd To Improve To 7-3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – UNCW knocked off host Eckerd, 4-1 and 3-2, in college beach volleyball action on Tuesday at the North Shore Courts.

The Seahawks improved to 7-3 overall and 2-1 on the road this season. The Tritons, meanwhile, extended their losing streak to six duals to open the season.

In the opener, UNCW won at four of the five pairings, only losing at the third pairing. Mattie Johnson and Sadie Sharkey improved to 3-1 as a pairing while Grace Sistrunk and Ashley Thompson did the same.

The second dual of the afternoon went the way of the Seahawks, 3-2, with Johnson and Sharkey providing the clinching match.

The Seahawks conclude their road swing on March 10 with duals against Chattanooga and North Alabama in Chattanooga.
