Lines Leaps To ECAC Long Jump Crown

BOSTON, Massachusetts – Junior Courtney Lines captured first place in the Women's Long Jump competition to highlight UNCW's finishes on Saturday in the ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Lines, from Leland, N.C., helped the Seahawks tie for sixth place in the team standings after the first day of competition. In the finals, the North Brunswick High School graduate broke her own school record with a leap of 20-8 to win the meet over Northeastern's Dominique Biron and Fordham's Kathryn Kelly.

Lines and Brynn Sheffield also set personal bests in the prelims to reach the semifinals of the 60 Meters. The versatile Lines later reached the finals with a time of 7.66 in the semis.

On Sunday, Lines will compete in the finals of the 60 Meters at 11:30 a.m. followed by Jayda Hunter and Tori Whimple taking part in the Triple Jump and Elise Hall competing in the Pole Vault at noon.

The ECAC is an 82-year-old organization with more than 200 members across NCAA Division I, II and III.
