Sandy Hawks Split Shutout Results

BOCA RATON, Fla. – UNCW was on both ends of a pair of shutout results on Saturday, upending Austin Peay before falling to 12th-ranked Florida Atlantic at the FAU Beach Burrow Bash.

The Seahawks went 1-3 on the weekend to move to 5-3 on the season.

Against Austin Peay, UNCW cruised to wins at the fourth and fifth pairings by Holly Cornelius and Brianna Haggerty and Tyle Cutrie and Kaley McLaughlin, respectively.

Mattie Johnson and Sadie Sharkey clinched the match at the top pairing with a three-set win over APSU's Marlayna Bullington and Kelsey Mead. The duo prevailed in the third set, 15-10, for the win.

At the second pairing, UNCW's Ashley Thompson and Grace Sistrunk also won in three, taking the tiebreaker, 15-13.
Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers completed the sweep with a two-set win. Bucci and Rogers have fashioned a 6-2 mark as a pairing between both the third and fourth pairings.

Against FAU, Cutrie and McLaughlin went to three sets at the fourth pairing before bowing 15-10.

The Seahawks return to action with a doubleheader on Mar. 8 at Eckerd.
