Sandy Hawks Drop Two In Florida

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UNCW beach volleyball dropped both duals on Friday at the Seahawks fell 4-1 to Palm Beach Atlantic and 5-0 to nationally-ranked Florida Gulf Coast at the FAU Beach Burrow Bash.

The Seahawks saw the record slide to 4-2 with the setbacks.

Against PBA, Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers won the fourth pairing in three sets, outlasting their opponent in the third set, 18-16. Tyla Cutrie and Kaley McLaughlin fell to PBA's Lorrayne Silva and Carolina Henderson by the scores of 21-19 and 21-17 in the fifth pairing.

FGCU, which is ranked 12th, rolled to a 5-0 win in the second dual of the afternoon. As in the first dual, the Seahawks received their best play from the four and five pairings. Bucci and Rogers fell 21-17, 21-19 and Cutrie and McLaughlin were swept, 21-17 and 21-14.

The Seahawks face Austin Peay and nationally-ranked FAU on Saturday at 8 a.m. and noon, respectively.
