Baseball Preview: North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNCW visits nationally-ranked North Carolina on Tuesday looking to regroup following a series loss last weekend at William & Mary.

Tuesday's game will be the first of a home-and-home series between the two programs and will be broadcast on the ACC Network at 7 p.m.

While the Seahawks (13-10) dropped their Colonial Athletic Association opening series, the Tar Heels (18-6) were swept in Miami, losing 3-2 in 15 innings on Sunday.

Freshman Zane Taylor will make his third start in as many weeks after opening his career with two relief appearances for the Seahawks. In his last outing, he limited East Carolina to a run on three hits over a season-long five innings.

North Carolina will send Brandon Shaeffer to the mound for his seventh start of the season. In his last outing, the lefthander surrendered three runs on six hits over 2.1 innings against Miami on Mar.25.

The Seahawks fell to the Heels last season, 14-9, in Chapel Hill, in the only game between the two last season. UNC will make the trek to Brooks Field on May 17.

UNCW returns to Brooks Field this weekend for a non-conference series against VMI beginning on Friday.
