Beach Volleyball Preview: Eastern Kentucky

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's beach volleyball program returns home to open a homestand on Tuesday against fellow ASUN member Eastern Kentucky. The teams will play two duals beginning at 1 p.m. at Capt'n Bill's Backyard Grill and Volleyball Facility.

The Seahawks have raced out to a program-best 9-3 mark after winning their last four outings. EKU, meanwhile, has opened its season at 0-7, most recently dropping all four duals at the College of Charleston Beach Classic last weekend.

UNCW's pairing of Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers have, like the Seahawks, gotten off to a 9-3 record. The duo began the season playing in the fourth pairing but moved into third pairing and gone 4-2 since that lineup adjustment.

Grace Sistrunk and Ashley Thompson have fashioned a 5-1 mark in their six duals playing at the second pairing.

Next up for the Sandy Hawks this weekend is their second of two home tournaments. UNCW hosts ASUN rivals Mercer and the College of Charleston, along with Liberty's club team. The teams will playa round robin on Saturday followed by a pair's tournament on Sunday.
