Beach Volleyball Sets Program Record With 9-3 Start

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – With a sweep of Chattanooga and North Alabama on Thursday at the UTC Sport Complex, UNCW jumped out the best start in program history.

The Seahawks ran their winning streak to four duals and raised their record to 9-3 on the season and 2-0 in the ASUN.

UNCW was pushed to the limit in all five pairings against ASUN rival North Alabama (3-5), winning four in three sets while Grace Sistrunk and Ashley Thompson posted a 21-19, 21-19 win at the third pairing.

The pairing of Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers clinched the dual with a three-set win and moved their record to 9-3 on the season.

Against Chattanooga, UNCW split the fourth and fifth pairings with Kaley McLaughlin and Brianna Haggerty winning 21-10, 21-17 at the fourth pairing.

The Seahawks went up 2-1 behind Buccie and Rogers in the third pairing winning in three sets, 15-8 in the deciding set.

Thompson and Sistrunk clinched the win for UNCW, winning in three sets at the second pairing.

The Seahawks host Eastern Kentucky on Mar. 15 for a pair of duals at Capt'n Bill's Backyard Grill and Volleyball Facility. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
