CAA Honors Women's Doubles Team

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's No. 2 team of Zoe Huffman and Stela Joksimovic has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.

Huffman, a junior from Maiden, N.C., and Joksimovic, a freshman from Chapel Hill, N.C., went 2-0 last week in a pair of convincing victories over visiting Gardner-Webb and East Carolina.

The pair topped GWU's Teodora Ristic and Maria Jardim, 6-3, to clinch doubles point against Bulldogs and then teamed up for 6-2 decision over ECU's Alisa Dierksen and Sofia Cerezo Holgado on Sunday. UNCW defeated GWU, 5-2, and rolled past ECU, 6-1.

"Zoe and Stela played an aggressive style of doubles throughout the weekend," said Hans Olsen, UNCW's veteran head coach. "We saw really good energy from them, especially on the big points."

The Seahawks are off to a 4-1 start this spring and next host Methodist on Friday, Mar. 4, 2022, in their next match.
