Lines Qualifies For 60 Meter Finals

LYNCHBURG, Virginia – Junior Courtney Lines continued her outstanding indoor season on Friday, qualifying for the 60 Meter finals as the UNCW women's indoor track and field team competed in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.

The meet, hosted by Liberty at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, continues early Saturday with a full slate of events. The field events begin at 10:30 a.m., with the running events starting at 11:15 a.m.
 
Lines, from Leland, N.C., clocked a 7.68 in the 60 Meter Dash. Seniors Brynn Sheffield (7.83) and Destiny Smith (9.14) also turned in solid performances in the 60 Meters and 60 Meter Hurdles.
 
"We're getting better at understanding the demands of our respective events," said Jeff Klaves, UNCW's third-year head coach. "The team continues to make great adjustments in practice and during competition to keep giving us a chance to push the mark. We're excited about keeping the momentum going into day two of the meet."
