Niebel Shines at Tri-Meet with Campbell and Georgia Tech

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW senior Tink Niebel won both the 200 Free and 200 IM to lead the UCW women to a tri-meet split with Georgia Tech and Campbell in swimming and diving action on Saturday at the Allen Natatorium. On the men's side, the Seahawks fell to Georgia Tech.

The Seahawk women improved to 3-2 overall with the split, rolling past Campbell, 235-58, but coming up short against the Yellow Jackets, 185-115. UNCW dipped to 1-3 with a 175-125 setback.

Niebel continued her early season success with strong swims in both 200 events she competed in. She clocked in with a winning time of 1:50.82 in the 200 Free and later recorded a victory with a mark of 2:05.29 in the 200 IM, which was also a career-best.

Joining Niebel, who also finished third in the 100 Free, with event wins were junior Brooke Knisely in the 500 Free and Sarah Olson, a senior, in the 50 Free. Knisley fashioned a time of 4:58.90 while Olson went 23.38.

The Seahawk men earned gold in four events with Henderson Louviere (200 Fly), Jacob Duracinsky (100 Free), Sam O'Brien (200 Back) and Dave Fitch (100 Fly) posting wins.
