UNCW, Clemson Battle To Stalemate In Exhibition

CLEMSON, S.C. – UNCW and Clemson battled to a 10-all deadlock over the course of a 15-inning game on Saturday in the final exhibition for both programs at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 3all through the first nine innings and Clemson earned a tie in the last six innings with five runs on its half of the 15th inning.

Seahawk pitching held the Tigers in check in the first nine innings, allowing three unearned runs on five hits and a pair of walks. Case Stroup, Ethan Chenault and Carter Holjes each struck out two in their inning of work.

Cyle Phelan, Cody Benton and Brett Banks all tossed shutout innings of relief to close out the opening half of the exhibition.

Freshman Brock Wills collected three hits in the leadoff spot to top the UNCW lineup. Trevor Marsh had an RBI double in the third inning and Jac Croom knocked in a run with a ground ball out in the fourth inning.

In the second half of the exhibition, Wills collected three more hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in two runs. Aiden Evans had two hits and scored twice, and Ron Evans doubled in a run.

Zane Taylor allowed a run over two innings of work and struck out three. Marty Gair, Cole Benton and freshman Mason Murdock each tossed scoreless innings of relief.
