Women's Swimming & Diving Edged By Liberty

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Bolstered by a pair of three-event winning streaks, Liberty was able to sneak past UNCW, 156-144, in the semester-opening meet for both programs on Saturday in women's college swimming action at the Seahawk Natatorium.

The Flames improved to 4-1 while the Seahawks dipped to 3-7. Brooke Knisely and Courtney Klausen both won a pair of events to pace UNCW. Knisley captured both the 500 and 100 Freestyles with her win in the 500 snapping one of the Liberty winning streaks.

Klausen won the 3-meter board on Friday with a score of 297.53 points and finished a sweep of the diving events with a victory in the 1-meter (294.08).

Winning individual events for UNCW were Tink Niebel (200 Free), Sarah Olson (50 Free) and Reece Alexander (100 Fly).

UNCW's winning 200 Free Relay of Olson, Brooke Morgan, Alexander and Niebel closed out the meet.

The Seahawks visit South Carolina next weekend for a 10 a.m. start at the Carolina Natatorium.
