Beach Volleyball Season Ends At CCSA Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – UNCW's beach volleyball season came to an end on Friday as the Seahawks dropped a pair of 5-0 decisions to nationally-ranked Florida State and Tulane at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament.

UNCW concludes the season with a mark of 6-13.

Against third-ranked Florida State, Brooke Hanshumaker and Elena Turnbull extended the Seminoles at the fourth pairing with a 21-15, 21-15 loss.

"Florida State showed us why they're ranked number three in the country," said UNCW Associate Head Coach David Fischer. "Our players said they learned a great deal by being on the other side of the net. Unfortunately, these lessons came in the conference tournament. Some of the best servers and offensive players in the country are at FSU."

The same duo of Hanshumaker and Turnbull gave Tulane a battle before falling, 21-18 twice.

Katie Lanz and Rachel Schaffer, playing the third pairing, dropped their match by identical scores of 21-15.

"Tulane played great defense across the board, and they mixed up their shots and their hard swings well."
