Beach Volleyball Preview: Florida State

Seahawks and Seminoles open the postseason tournament on Friday

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW, seeded eighth, will face top-seeded Florida State in the first round of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament on Friday in Huntsville, Ala.

The dual is set for an 9:30 a.m. EST first serve and will be part of a double elimination format.

The Seahawks finished the season with a 6-11 mark after going 1-2 at South Carolina's Palmetto Invitational last weekend in Columbia. UNCW fell to the 16th-ranked Gamecocks, 4-1, and later lost 3-2 against rival College of Charleston. UNCW, however, concluded the tournament with a 5-0 win over Erskine.

FSU, meanwhile, dominated most of the season, fashioning a 28-4 record overall and 17-1 against other members of the CCSA. The Seminoles closed out the season winning their last seven duals.

The Seminoles have won all four previous CCSA Championships all coming in sweeps. FSU was ranked fourth in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll released on Apr. 13.
