Beach Volleyball Closes Weekend With Split

UNCW prepares for next week's CCSA Tournament

COLUMBIA, S.C. – In its final tune up before the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament next weekend, UNCW split a pair of duals on Saturday, falling in five to Charleston before sweeping Erskine at Wheeler Beach in the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

The Seahawks enter the conference tournament with a record of 6-11 and having three of their last four duals.

Against Erskine, UNCW picked up wins in the fourth and fifth pairings with Mya Duggan and Reagan Evans winning in three, 15-10.

Joanmarie (JM) Lewandowski and Ashley Thompson provided the clinching point with a 21-15, 21-16 win at the top pairing.

Against rival College of Charleston, the two teams split the four and five matches as well as the second and third pairings. In the deciding match, CofC's Sky Benjamin and Rebecca Olariu outlasted Lewandowski and Thompson in three, 27-29, 23-21 and 18-16, for the win.

Pairings for the CAA tournament will be announced his upcoming week.
