Sharkey, Goodwin Earn Win Versus Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sadie Sharkey and Casey Goodwin delivered a win for the Seahawks at the second pairing, but 16th-ranked South Carolina cruised past the Seahawks, 4-1, on Friday at Wheeler Beach.

UNCW's modest two-dual winning streak was halted as its record dropped to 5-10. The Gamecocks, meanwhile, upped their record to 19-7.

In the second pairing, Sharkey and Goodwin won the opening set, 21-18, but USC's paring of Avery Davis and Madison Brabham forced a third set with a 21-15 win. Sharkey and Goodwin would prevail in the final set, 15-12, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Brooke Hanshumaker and Elena Turnbull fell 21-16, 21-16 in the fourth pairing.

The Gamecocks clinched the dual with a win in the number one pairing.

The Seahawks take on the College of Charleston and Erskine on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
