Tori Whimple placed first in the Triple Jump and the 4x800 Relay unit captured gold as the UNCW women's indoor track and field team completed first day action in the VMI Winter Relays on Friday.

The Seahawks wrap up their appearance at the two-day meet on Saturday when the competition continues at the Corps Physical Training Facility.

Whimple, from Castleton, N.Y., took first in the Triple Jump with a leap of 38-00, third best all-time at UNCW.

The 4x800 Relay team of

Gretchen Bingham clocked a 10:42.22 time for first place.

Sophomore
Destiny Smith qualified for Saturday's finals in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 9.17 in the semifinals.
