Seahawks Conclude Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, Virginia – The UNCW women's indoor track & field team returned to action after the holiday break by turning in several solid performances in the 15th Annual Liberty Kickoff Invitational on Saturday at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
 
The Seahawks competed in their second indoor meet of the season and the second of five meets in 2019-20.
 
Top Highlights:
  • Sophomore Victoria Whimple posted a mark of 37-5 in the Triple Jump, good for seventh all-time at UNCW.
  • Sophomore Juliana Cavanagh went 36-11 in the Triple Jump and now ranks No. 10 all-time for the Seahawks.
  • Sophomore Destiny Smith reached the semifinals of the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 9.09. That was also good for No. 10 on the all-time list.
The event featured student-athletes from 36 colleges and universities, including nine states and the District of Columbia. School entries included Alvernia, Barton, Bowie State, Bridgewater, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Columbia International, Converse, District of Columbia, Elon, Frostburg State, Glenville State, Hagerstown Community College, Hampton, Indiana Tech, James Madison, Johnson C. Smith, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisburg, Mary Baldwin, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Methodist, Montreat, Morgan State, Mount Olive, North Carolina Central, Newberry, Regent, St. Andrews, UNCW, Virginia State, Wingate and Wofford.
 
The Seahawks return to Virginia to compete in the Roanoke Division I Invitational at the Cregger Center on Saturday, Feb. 1, in Roanoke, Va.
