UNCW Goes 1-1 In Final Tuneup

COLUMBIA, S.C. – UNCW split a pair of matches on Saturday, topping Missouri State 3-2 and falling to nationally-ranked South Carolina, 3-2, in the finale of the Palmetto Beach Classic in Columbia, S.C.

Versus Missouri State
UNCW jumped in front 2-0 with wins in the fourth and fifth pairings and clinched the match with a win in the first position. Katie McCullough and Maddy Kline earned a 22-20, 21-10 win in the clinching dual.

Versus #11 South Carolina
The Seahawks split the first four pairings with Kline and McCullough winning in the first position and Raquel Rooney and Brynn Montgomery in the fourth. The match came down to the third pairing where UNCW's Joanmarie (JM) Lewandowski and Halle Hunt dropped a 21-10, 21-17 dual for the final Gamecock point.

The Seahawks next compete in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association championship tournament on Apr. 19-21 in Emerson, Ga.
