UNCW Closes Out Classic With Win Over Coastal

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW swept Tusculum (5-0) and edged Coastal Carolina (3-2) to close out the Dig & Dive Beach Classic on Sunday with a pair of wins.

"Today was a fantastic way to end our home tournament with two wins," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "I'm proud of how well our team competed under pressure."

The Seahawks upped the record to 7-6 on the season with the two-dual sweep.

TUSCULUM
UNCW opened the day with a sweep of Tusculum, posting sweeps in each pairing of the dual. Freshman Altman Griffin and sophomore Elena Turnbull allowed just 17 points in their sweep at the fifth position.

COASTAL CAROLINA
The Seahawks earned wins at the number one, three and four positions for a 3-2 win over their rivals. Freshman Lexie Hamilton and senior Maddy Kline fashioned a 21-17,21-16 win at the top position and Raquel Rooney, a junior, and sophomore Brynn Montgomery won 22-20,21-19 at the third position. Senior Halle Hunt and JM Lewandowski, a sophomore, captured a three-setter, 16-14, to complete the win at the fourth slot.

The Seahawks compete in the Georgia State Diggin' Duals, in Atlanta, on Mar. 29-30.
