Beach Volleyball Splits Duals

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW split a pair of 5-0 decisions on Saturday, losing to Florida Gulf Coast and topping Morehead State at the Dig & Dive Beach Classic.

The Seahawks now stand at 5-6 on the season.

"Even with a split today our team fought hard and we fell short by just a few points," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "The home court environment was fantastic, and we want to thank our fans for such a great turnout. Tomorrow is a new day and we hope to play more consistent in both of our duals."

MOREHEAD STATE

Brynn Montgomery and Raquel Rooney rolled to a 21-15, 21-11 victory at the third pairings and Kyla Augustine and Reagan Evans posted a 21-16, 21-9 win in the fifth position.

FGCU

Maddy Kline and Lexie Hamilton took FGCU to three sets before falling in the number one pairing. Halle Hunt and JM Lewandowski played a pair of 21-19 sets before falling in the fourth position.

The Seahawks close out their home tournament on Sunday with a pair of duals. UNCW plays Tusculum at 10:30 a.m. and Coastal Carolina at 2:30 p.m.
