Timberlake Paces Seahawks At Camel City

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina – Freshman Sarah Timberlake captured fourth place in the unseeded field of the High Jump to highlight UNCW's indoor finishes on Saturday in the Camel City Invite at the JDL Fast Track.
 
The 6-0 Timberlake, from nearby Clemmons, N.C., soared 5-3 in the High Jump. In other finishes, the 4x400m relay team of Auri Witherspoon, Annie Hanna, Courtney Christian and Mikiya Spencer finished fourth overall with a time of 4:00.80 out of the slow heat, posting a season-best time in winning their third heat in as many tries this season.
 
Junior Courtney Cefalo took eighth place in the Long Jump with a leap of 17-9.75 and the Distance Medley Relay unit of Emme Fisher, Victoria Gardner, Cameron Smithwick and Kylie Knavish came in eighth with a 20-second improvement over its previous time at 12:48.64.
 
"We had some misfires this weekend, but we had some others show improvement," said Head Coach Layne Schwier "We'll see if we can put it all together next week as we wrap up the indoor portion of the season on a high note."
 
The team travels to Lexington, Va., next weekend to compete in the VMI Winter Relays.
