Beach Volleyball Preview: North Florida/Jacksonville

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW's beach volleyball program returns to action on the road this weekend when it visits Jacksonville, Fla., for a pair of dual matches against North Florida and host Jacksonville on Saturday.

The Seahawks own a 10-6 record after going 2-2 last weekend at its own tournament, the Beach Blast. UNCW topped Stevenson and Mercer, but fell to College of Charleston and nationally-ranked South Carolina.

The duals begin at 11 a.m. with UNCW and North Florida (5-11) squaring off for the second time this season. The Seahawks dealt the then nationally-ranked Ospreys a 3-2 loss at the UNF Sand Invitational. It was UNCW's first win over a nationally-ranked opponent in the program's brief history.

The Seahawks close out their dual schedule for the weekend with a 3 p.m. start against host Jacksonville (5-12). It will be the only time the two programs meet this season.

On Sunday there will be a pairs tournament.

UNCW closes out the regular season at the Palmetto Invitational, hosted by South Carolina, on Apr. 14-15. The Seahawks then head to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament (Apr. 21-23) for the first time in program history. The winner of that tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
