CARTERSVILLE, Georgia – UNCW dropped a pair of duals to nationally-ranked Florida State and South Carolina in its postseason debut at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association championship on Friday at the LakePoint Sports Complex.
The Seahawks dropped to 13-11 with the two losses while FSU and USC both improved to 22-7.

"We knew this weekend competition would be tough and Florida State didn't make any mistakes for us to capitalize on," said UNCW Head Coach
Amy Bambenek. "Against South Carolina, Emily (Corrigan) and Maddy (Kline) were able to take care of business and it was great to see us push them in the first and fifth positions before coming up short."
In the nightcap, the Seahawks fell to South Carolina, 4-1, with
Emily Corrigan and
Maddy Kline earned the lone win in the second position. The Seahawks pushed the Gamecocks to three sets at the number one and five spots in the lineup.
The Seahawks dropped their first dual of the day, 5-0, to defending CCSA champion and fourth-ranked Florida State. The Seminoles won each match in straight sets with UNCW's top pairing of
Nicole Lott and
Tanna Aljoe falling to Leigh Andrews and Brooke Kuhlman, 21-17, 21-16.
The Seahawks close out pool play on Saturday with 10:30 a.m. start against Tulane and then a 3 p.m. first-serve against FIU.
