Beach Volleyball Sweeps Two On Tuesday

ATLANTA, Georgia – UNCW posted a pair of 5-0 wins over Austin Peay and Jacksonville State on Tuesday at the Georgia State "Day of Duals" classic.

The Seahawks, who received votes in the AVCA Beach Volleyball poll on Monday for the first time, upped their record to 4-2 with the wins while Austin Peay and Jacksonville State fell to 1-5 and 0-6, respectively.

"All our pairs took care of business and incorporated some plays we worked on yesterday," said UNCW Associated Head Coach David Fischer. "Maddy Kline and Raquel Rooney set some high goals for their match at the three-spot and they played their best ball of the trip. As a program, we've got plenty to work on before hosting Coastal March 18, but our progress has been fun to watch. "

UNCW rolled to an easy win in the JSU match as number pair of Tanna Aljoe and Nicole Lott surrendered just 14 points in a 21-8, 21-6 win.

Against JSU, UNCW's second pairs team of Emily Corrigan and Katie McCullough rolled to a convincing win, posting scores of 21-7, 21-8.

In the third position, Sydney Alvis and Sarah Kelly raised their record to 5-1 on the season with a 21-16, 21-12 win.

UNCW returns to action on March 18 when they host the first of two home events. The Seahawks will play Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The matches will be played at Dig and Dive.
