Beach Volleyball Splits Sunday Duals With Spring Hill and FIU

ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida – UNCW split a pair of duals on Sunday, topping Spring Hill College and falling to 11th-ranked FIU as the Seahawks wrapped up their season debut at the UNF Sand Classic.

The Seahawks split their four duals on the weekend to move to 2-2.

Box Scores: Spring Hill | FIU

"Today was a great learning experience for us," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "It was windy and we played two experienced programs. Spring Hill gave us a battle and FIU was more physical than us at every pair. We played tough and kept those matches close point-wise."

In the opener, a 4-1 win over Spring Hill, UNCW won the top four positions, including sweeps in the first and third spots in the lineup. Tanna Aljoe and Nicole Lott opened the dual with a 2-19, 21-12 win at the number one position and Maddy Kline and Raquel Rooney won at the third, 21-11 and 21-17.

FIU earned a 5-0 win in the second dual of the day. Aljoe and Lott extended the match at the one position to three sets before falling 16-21, 22-20, 14-16.

The Seahawks return to action on Mar. 7, when they play a pair of neutral site duals in Atlanta, Ga., against Austin Peay and Jacksonville State.
