"Today was probably the best overall day of racing this team has had in a few years," said UNCW Head Coach Jason Memont. "We got to the pool in the morning determined to make the scoring finals tonight and did a great job executing our game plans. Jack Cosgrove broke into the top ten in the 200 free, which is a strong event for our program. Meagan Johnson is an amazing competitor and used a great back half to chase down the field in the 400 IM to come up with the exciting win. She has an incredibly tough double tomorrow with the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly back to back that I wouldn't attempt with anyone except her. Our relays have also been very impressive this week, which has propelled us to the top of the standings. I'm excited to get back to the pool in the morning and finish up with what might be our strongest day of events."

Johnson, who entered the 400 IM ranked third in the CAA, posted her season-best time when she shaved nearly 11 seconds off her previous best. Her time of 4:22.57 also moved her to the top of the conference in the event.

Junior Caitlin Cockcroft added a second-place showing in the 100 Butterfly.

Johnson also helped relays to a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 Medley and 800 Free Relay. Joining her on the 200 Medley were Shannon Howell, Cockcroft and Evan Arsenault. On the 800, Kyra Schemmel, Megan Lahr and Annie Shirk rounded out the squad.

On the men's side, the 200 Medley Relay of Zech Chastain, Ben Whitty, Connor Forsythe and Tom McGovern clocked in with a time of 1:31.94.

Forsythe added a second-place finish in the 100 Fly and Jack Cosgrove was second in the 200 Free.

The meet concludes on Saturday beginning with trials at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
