UNCW Fashions Third Top-3 Finish Of The Fall

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Led by senior Pat Cover's four-under-par 68, UNCW rose four spots on Sunday to finish in third place at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at the Finley Golf Course.

FINAL RESULTS OF TAR HEEL INTERCOLLEGIATE

Host North Carolina, which was ranked 32nd entering the tournament, won the tournament by 23 strokes and finished 49-under for the tournament. Jacksonville finished second, five strokes ahead of the Seahawks, who have finished in the top three in each of their three outings this fall.

Maryland and Coastal Carolina rounded out the top-five, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

UNCW's Blake McShea recorded his second top-10 finish of the fall, tying for eighth at eight-under.

Joining McShea with top-20 finishes were senior Thomas Eldridge and Cover, both tying for 12th at six-under.

UNC's Ben Griffin, who was ranked 70th nationally, earned medalist honors, winning the tournament by five strokes over teammate Jose Montano, who carded an eight-under 64 on Sunday.

UNCW returns to action next weekend at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate hosted by ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn.
