Mitchum, Seahawks Win ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, North Carolina – UNCW men's golfer Gray Mitchum captured individual medalist honors as the Seahawks cruised to the ECU Intercollegiate championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Brook Valley Country Club.

The Seahawks (286-287-295=868) finished 10 strokes ahead of the host Pirates and 17 shots ahead of third-place St. John's. 

Mitchum carded a three-under 69 score in the first and second rounds and staved off a late push by Ryan Jahr for his first individual title. 

UNCW's Ethan Boyette rounded out the top three with a two-over 218 tournament score and Preston Worch finished tied for fourth, one stroke behind Boyette, who was one of six players to author an Eagle.

The Seahawks carded 35 birdies, including 11 by Mitchum.

UNCW will stage the Seahawk Intercollegiate from Mar. 30-31 at the Country Club of Landfall.
