UNCW Soars to Seahawk Intercollegiate Title

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's golf program cruised to its second consecutive team title, nine strokes ahead of No. 26 Duke, at the 2026 Seahawk Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon at the Country Club of Landfall's Nicklaus Course.

The Seahawks, who were tied with VCU and Stetson following the second round, used an 11-under 277 score to surge past the field for their second straight team championship after winning the ECU Intercollegiate on Mar. 17.

UNCW's Gray Mitchum, who also won the ECU Intercollegiate, and Duke's William Love shared individual medalist honors with a six-under 210 54-hole score over Monday and Tuesday.

Mitchum was one of three Seahawks to finish in the top five, along with James Rico and Preston Worch, who earned a share of third and fifth, respectively.

The Seahawks paced the 18-team field with 71 birdies, including 17 apiece by Rico and Ethan Boyette, who finished with a share of 11th. Six golfers had at least 10 birdies.

This was the seventh time UNCW has won the Seahawk Intercollegiate as well as the second straight year. The Seahawks won consecutive tournaments for the first time in four seasons.

UNCW continues its season at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate from Apr. 11-12 at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
