Cover In Second, UNCW Third At Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – Bolstered by a 67 in the opening round which has Patrick Cover tied for second, UNCW is in third-place after 18 holes on Friday at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.

Cover was joined by senior teammate Thomas Eldridge, who after posting a three-under-69 is tied for eighth, in the top 10.

After opening the front nine at par, Cover converted a birdie on the 10th hole and then fashioned an eagle on 14. He followed that up with birdies on 15 and 18 to shoot five-under on the back nine.
Eldridge, meanwhile, led the tournament in par–4 scoring at 3.60 and shot four-under-par on those holes.

Nationally-ranked Penn State leads the tournament by three strokes over 11th-ranked Tennessee. Rounding out the top five are UNCW followed by Coastal Carolina and Louisville, who are both tied for fourth.

The Seahawks are just four strokes off the pace as they enter the second round.

Penn State's JD Hughes (66) holds a one-stroke lead for the medalist lead over Sean Wilcox (Tennessee), Cover and Coastal Carolina's Luis Ruiz.

UNCW tees off the second round at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday and is paired with Penn State and Tennessee.
