UNCW Posts Eight Top-Five Finishes On Saturday

COLUMBIA, South Carolina – Senior Will Ryan posted a pair of top-five finishes to pace UNCW on Saturday at the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational at the Carolina Natatorium.

"This was a great weekend of preparation and racing," said UNCW Head Coach Jason Memont. "We faced competition that has seen success at the national and even international level and I believe our team learned a lot. This is a perfect weekend to get ready for our conference championship because the format and quality of opponent will prepare us for next month. The student-athletes have focused in on race plans and details in order to be successful at championships and I am looking forward to great results. We have grown as a program so much this year and I'm excited to see the team compete again. Despite the team results these swimmers and divers should be proud of the effort they put in this weekend."

Ryan recorded two of UNCW's eight top-five finishes on the day with a third-place showing in the 200 Breaststroke (2:04.61) and a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:02.55 in the 400 IM.

Meghan Lahr anchored the women's 200 Medley Relay which finished fourth and later added a fifth-place finish in the 50 Free when she touched the wall in a time of 24:39 seconds.

Karen Woodworth added a fourth-place result in the 200 Breaststroke when the clocked in at 2:23.12.

Sean Cannon, meanwhile, took fifth in the 50 Free (21.30).

Joining Lahr on the 200 Medley Relay were Meghan Karl, Kathryn Ostrom and Caitlin Cockcroft.

In Diving, Adyson Lowe finished fifth in the women's 1-meter board (238.35) and Allen Crosby was third in the men's 3-meter (249.35).

UNCW's women's team hosts Campbell on Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. in the regular season finale
