Diamond Hawks Open Homestand Wednesday With High Point


WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Seahawks open an eight-game homestand tonight with a 6 p.m. start against High Point as they put a wrap on their home-and-home series.

UNCW (27-10) saw its 12-game winning streak come to an end last night as North Carolina rallied to tie the game in the eighth and plated the game-winner on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth.

High Point (26-15) returns to the field for the first time since dropping a Big South Conference series at Coastal Carolina over the weekend. The Panthers won the opener, but dropped the second and third games, including a 4-0 setback on Monday.

UNCW won the first of the home-and-home series with HPU on Apr. 13, 5-1. Seahawk pitchers limited the Panthers to two-hits while home runs off the bats of Nick Feight and Casey Golden spurred the offense.

The Seahawks continue the homestand on Friday when they open a Colonial Athletic Association series with Hofstra. First-pitch is set for 6 p.m.
